Norfolk Southern Railroad is now requiring the the developer of Kern’s Bakery restoration to get a permit from them that allows the construction underneath their railroad trestle. The developer of Kern’s has applied for the closure of Blount Avenue to continue until near the end of March, 2021 with the expectation that they will get Railroad approval by the end of March 5th.
The City plans to extend the road closure to the end of next week, March 5th . If the developer receives a permit from the railroad, road closure will continue while construction resumes. If they do not get a permit from the railroad by the end of the week, March 5th, the City will reopen the road until the developer gets the required permit.
